KDS has always been utter garbage: witnessing Kyle's abusive behavior a year before his ban

I’ve been putting this off for over a year, but I finally feel like maybe it’s safe to post it now.

Kyle Dempster Studios (KDS or Kyle from here on) has always been garbage. He’s toxic as hell. He’s incredibly immature. He threatens people with unleashing his ‘fam’ upon them. (He has – or had – a dedicated fanbase that was OBSESSED with carrying out his deranged desires. They’ve been doxxing critics, or coming very close to it, that whole time.) Not only has he been toxic, but his followers include[d] Gina Bruno, community manager for The Elder Scrolls Online. During one of these streams, she encouraged him to publicly release information about my other guild. He was streaming as she was texting him. 

He's come dangerously close to doxxing other community members with whom he had a disagreement. He made a habit of silencing dissenters by threatening them. He was verbally abusive to everyone in his inner circle. And the Zenimax team should have been aware of this before making him part of their Stream Team for ESO, because it had already occurred during public streams by that point. There is no reason why they should have legitimized his petty, gross behavior, but they did.

This tweet sums it up succinctly (albeit with a spelling error in KDS's name).

Last year, in fact, almost exactly a year before he pulled this specific incident of doxxing (including at least one minor), this happened to me and my guild: 

In case you don't play The Elder Scrolls Online, all guilds of a certain size have a guild store. A guild trader is an NPC that guild leaders bid on in order to have a kiosk where people from other guilds can purchase the items in the guild store. Guild traders are highly sought after and location is generally competitive and a matter of prestige. Usually, one guild will hold onto a guild trader for as long as possible, once they find a decent location that they can afford. Guild trader bidding is blind, meaning you don't know how much other people are bidding before you place yours. Because of this, traders can be "sniped". Sometimes, this happens because members of one guild tell members of another guild how much their trader cost. Most guilds keep this info on lockdown, only letting a select few members have access to that information because it's so valuable. Guild traders last for a week, at which point guilds have to bid again and hope they get to keep them. 

The following screenshots were taken from Discord. They show my guild leader talking to KDS about the abovementioned source of "drama" (which really wasn't even that dramatic, or rather wouldn't have been had it been discussed between two rational, mature adults).

On top of all the other problematic shit he said, notice how she pointed out at the very beginning that she was the guild master, yet he continued to belittle her and, in the end, said: "if you care to put me directly in touch with you [sic] guild leader". It's almost as if he's always had issues with women. I know he (during at least one of the streams that I watched) used the term "meat curtains" and other derogatory phrases meant to demean women and our bodies. He's just utter garbage and he always has been.

As a guild leader, Kyle only paid attention to sycophants who could boost his ego. He had no idea what actual leadership should look like. He only wanted attention and praise, and anything less than that was incompatible with his ego. He couldn't handle any criticism and threatened to doxx anyone who offered any kind of critique. He did this more than once that I saw. He kept his officers on short leashes and had no concept of mutual respect. He wanted worshippers and, somehow, he got them. 

As a person, he was capable of being humorous, but it was almost always at the expense of someone else, usually marginalized people. Despite claiming to be a "leader" of the LGBTQ+ gaming community, he never made anyone who was not his particular flavor of Queer feel welcomed, and then only if they offered unquestioning obedience. People like me, who identify as Queer/bi/pan, were outcasts within our own "community", and he said on several occasions that we shouldn't even identify as Queer because it offended him. 

I was completely unsurprised when I heard that he had been banned and why; what surprised me was that it had taken a year for him to fuck up that badly. It took the community more than a year to see him for what he was, and there are still fanboys of his that will continue to defend him to the death. I don't understand it. He was an oddity only in that he was an openly gay Satanist gamer. His attitude and actions are/were toxic. His opinions of women are/were toxic. There's nothing special about a misogynistic, petty, immature gamer. Nothing.

He's completely deserving of his new moniker involving the word "dumpster" to replace his last name, and he deserves worse. That's why I'm writing this, to finally let everyone know how he's always been a piece of shit. I'm still worried he's going to doxx me... I mean, he has no fear of reprisal or accountability now that he's been removed from the Stream Team, so why not abuse and harass anyone who speaks up against him? 

It's not like it would be the first or the last time he did that. 

So for now, I guess I'm signing off. I'll go back to hiding, but I'm glad to have finally rid myself of this burden. Now, if only the gaming community could collectively remove and get over the burden that is Kyle Dempster.

My New Favorite Pasttime

I treated myself to quite a deal on cyber Monday.
Here's a hint...

I, of course, bought the Game of the Year edition, because I just can't do without the added DLC (that costs $15 each and so more than the cost of the game in this case) and the extra goodies that came with it.

Unfortunately, I've run into some problems with the game.

I haven't been able to access any of the extras that are included in the GOTY edition: no weapons, mounts, or DLC.  So I made a ticket through the EA/Origin website, and had even more problems with that.  The first response was speedy, but was just informing me that I should wait longer - despite already having waited 5 days - before expecting it to show up.  The next response took about a day, and after that I waited almost a week to get a response, and that was with me sending out daily requests for aid.

I don't know if this was the reason, but I finally gave up and contacted BioWare, telling them that I love their game but am probably never going to buy another one because of the EA/Origin [lack of] customer service.  Shortly afterwards I received a special personal email from someone who works at EA.  He informed me that he would be helping me and that he may need to access my account, which I agreed to.  Well, it still hasn't been fixed, and he's off for the weekend and works extremely early in the mornings, so I'm SOL for now, at least until Monday.

One person responded to my original EA ticket saying that I should un/reinstall the game.
Given that my max internet speed is 6 Mbps which generally equates to 800 Kbps download speed, I'm loathe to do it.  I barely managed to free up enough space on my multiple hard drives to be able to cut/paste the folder onto another drive, saving the game while I download another copy.  (More hard drives is at the top of my Christmas wish list.)

I don't really like the way either turned out, especially in the eyebrow area, and the game also does this really gross thing where when you're standing in shadow your face looks like a raccoon wearing makeup.
Here's an example of what I mean.

In my opinion it looks pretty gross.  (Plus her eyebrows are all wrong.)

Sadly, that's the character I've spent the most time playing, mostly because every character I've made since still ends up looking like that.

It seems like a combination of the blush and eye makeup compounded by the lack of direct light, and it's just awful.  So I made a new character and she still looks pretty messed up.

This is my most recent character, made today, at the request of the EA employee who said I might find the items on a new character I made.

As you can see, the game has the potential for beautiful characters, it just falls short when not in cinematics or at least conversation.

I hope I'll continue to be happy with this one, who I named Elysia.

As you may have noticed, I've chosen to play a mage - at least for my first time through.

I like how it adds into the storyline of the battle between the mages and templars.

Based on the amount of time I've spent in-game so far and how I'm nowhere near done nor am I sick of it, you can definitely say I'm enjoying this game and am glad I got it.  If you, like me, can find the GOTY edition for $39.99 I recommend picking it up, and hopefully the extras and DLC work for you (unlike me)!

The only other RPG that's not an MMO that I've played extensively was Skyrim, and I'm still not done with that game.  Yeah, there's an awful lot to do in that game, but I also kept encountering bugs and glitches the second time around (the first time my character, that I had progressed farthest with, disappeared).  So I haven't spent too much time going back and giving it another shot, because the bugs have been quite annoying.  I may give it another go once I'm done with this, though.  Of course, I also play The Elder Scrolls Online, which, while not perfect, I also recommend.

I've also encountered this glitch that makes my weapon damage animation trail behind in the sky.  It's really annoying.  Has anyone else seen this?

So, yesterday (6/3/12) I got my final alt on my home realm (Malygos) to level 80, and it was completely anticlimactic.  I actually think I enjoy leveling more than anything else, and yet I am also completely bleh-ified by questing and doing dungeons in the "old world" (pre-BC).  Am I finally starting to overcome my years-long addiction to World of Warcraft?  What on Earth do I do now?

My husband is trying to interest me in Diablo 3, hoping that we will be able to play together, as we used to play WoW together, and I've tried, but I am not very into or familiar with the story-line, and to me the gameplay is nothing compared to other MMOs.  I've played for maybe five hours total, and have one "wizard" to level six and one monk to level eight, and have only yet unlocked the 1 key for special abilities, and it is on a cooldown.  So, this means that for the majority of the game and fights, I am madly clicking my mouse keys, which is not only annoying but not very ergonomically pleasing for someone used to engaging both hands.  I understand that many people are frustrated with World of Warcraft, and that it IS old and behind the times, and while the combat system is not as dynamic as the new Guild Wars 2 is supposed to be, it is at least solid and requires some form of coordination (even if that just means using both hands.)  So far, Diablo 3 requires the right hand for everything except for things like opening your inventory and turning on and off enemy health bars... so my left hand, so used to the 1-6, WASD, etc is left poised but unused, abandoned, as it were.

Needless to say, I don't foresee purchasing a second copy of D3 or investing any serious amount of time in it.

Speaking of investing time (ahem, wasting) I spent about 90 hours in my game of Skyrim (with one character) and because my hard drive died on me, my game is gone.  I am still convinced that we can recover the data one way or another, but that is just because I believe I *MUST* as there are some very important documents on there that I foolishly neglected to back up.  I went a little MOD-happy as I decided to start playing Skyrim again (anew) and in doing so have managed to break my copy of Skyrim... we purchased it on Steam and Steam decided that in order to fix it I had to re-download something that took about four hours, and it is still not fixed.

Whew, that was more writing than I've done in about two weeks!  And all, sadly, about something that most people would consider a worthless waste of time.

I don't think that I will find what I seek in Skyrim, I haven't found it yet in D3, and I fear I've lost it in WoW.  I want to purchase Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and TERA and try both of those, but have yet to find a way to fund these purchases.  And no, I don't think I'm ready to solely rely on the "real world" yet.
